  • Jayne Quam

Jayne is a fetish carver who mixes her own Navajo heritage with that of the Zunis. She is known for her pairs of animals, particularly fox pairs which she says represent fidelity and faithfulness.   Foxes mate for life and are given as wedding gifts in the Navajo tradition.
Jayne uses a variety of stone types, often contrasting colours in her pairs.
Married to Lynn Quam, Jayne has  lived in Zuni many years.  Jayne carves turtles, bears, 6 directionals, as well as foxes among other animals. She does beautiful inlay work and often pairs her animals, in particular, foxes. Foxes mate for life and are given as wedding gifts in the Navajo tradition.
