Burt is a Zuni artist with a distinctive style. His fetishes are in the abstract style and often use dramatic incised heartlines and bundles. He is known for his Bear and wolf carvings and typically uses striking stone for his carvings including turquoise, coral, jet, ammonite, crawstone, dolomite, fossil jasper, flouride, wild horse marble, jet, serpentine, and denim lapis stone. 
Burt was taught his craft by Joseph Quam and Gibbs Otole and is counted as part of Gibbs Otole’s extended family. Today, he lives in Zuni with his wife and their 4 children.
